The clinical assessment of visual field defects. 
Visual fields are tested accurately using a red pin (a), and the results are recorded on a Goldmann field plot as in (b), which also shows visual acuity (VA). In this patient, bitemporal field defects were found. Classically, this results from chiasmal compression by a suprasellar extension.
